Task II 语法突破。

基数词

one, two, three, four, five……这些表示数目的词就是基数词。其构成形式如下: 1~12:one, two, three...twelve。它们是基础,属于独立词,需要特殊记忆。

13~19:three→thirteen, four→fourteen, five→fifteen... nine→nineteen。关于它们的拼写,只 要我们稍微用心,就会发现是有规律可循的,那就是都以teen结尾。

20~90:逢十都要在词尾加上 ty。如:twenty,thirty, forty, fifty...ninety。

几十几:表示几十几的两位数的拼写比较长,它们由十位数字加个位数字构成,中间不要忘了加连字符。

如:21写成twenty-one, 35写成thirty-five。百位数:百位和十位之间用and连接,如:342写成three hundred and forty-two。

千位数:千位和百位之间不能用and连接,但当百位数缺失时,应用and补足。如:4,211写成four thousand two hundred and eleven, 4,023 写成four thousand and twenty-three。

千位以上的较大数字:在朗读数字的时候,应先将数字三位一段自右向左用逗号划分,然后按照三位数的朗读方法自左向右读出每一段内的数字,并在逗号处自右向左依次加上单词hundred, thousand, million等。如:132,560,769写 成 one hundred and thirty-two million fivehundred and sixty thousand seven hundred andsixty-nine。

【值得注意的是】,基数词在表示确切的数字时,hundred, thousand等不能使用复数形式,即不能加s;但是,基数词在表示不确切的数字时,如数百、成千上万,hundred, thousand等常以复数 形 式 出 现 ,常 见 的 结 构 有 hundreds of,thousands of等。例如:

There are two hundred people in the hall. 大厅里有两百人。

Thousands of people visit the museum everyday. 每天成千上万人参观这个博物馆。

序数词

如果我们想要表示事物顺序,该怎么办呢?当然要用到序数词啦!首先我们看看基数词是如何变为序数词的,有这样的口诀:

基变序有规律,词尾加上-th ;

一二三特殊记,单词结尾t d d ;

八减t, 九减e ,f 要把ve替 ;

ty 把y 改为i ,记住前面还有e ;

若遇到几十几,只变个位莫迟疑。

空口无凭,有例为证:one →first, two →second,three →third, five →fifth, eight →eighth,nine →ninth,

twelve →twelfth, twenty →twentieth,thirty-one →thirty-first。 序数词的用法

我们可用序数词谈论日期、楼层以及生日等。例如:My birthday is March 5th. 我的生日是3月5日。有时为了书写方便,我们可用阿拉伯数字和序数词的最后两个字母构成序数词的缩略形式 。 如 :first →1st, eleventh →11th, twenty--second →22nd。

序数词前通常要加定冠词the,但有形容词性物主代词时,the要省略。序数词前如果用不定冠词a/an修饰,则表示“再一、又一”。例如:

This is my third time to come to Shenzhen. 这是我第三次来到深圳。

I have eaten two apples, but I’d like a third one.我已经吃了两个苹果,但我还想再吃一个。

另外,用英语描述算式时,要注意每个动词各自的习惯搭配。 如:

Add 2 and 6. (2+6.) /Multiply 2 by 6. (2×6.) / 2 plus 6 is/equals 8.(2+6=8.);

2 multiplied by 6 is/equals 12. (2×6=12.)等。

[要点] the number of表示“……的数量/数目”,of 与后面的名词构成介词短语,作定 语,修饰中心词the number;作主语时,谓语动词要用单数形式。例如:

The number of the students in our schoolis more than 1,500. 我们学校的学生人数有1500多。

[辨析] a number of和the number of仅一个冠词之差,但a number of是固定短语,意为 “大量的、许多”,后接名词复数形式,作主语时谓语动词用复数形式。此短语亦可写成numbers of。例如:

A number of students are standing outsidetheoffice.办公室外站着许多学生。
