On the 20 anniversary of the first official report on AIDS, the head of the United Nations AIDS program warns that the deadly disease may only be at its early stages in many parts of the world. Dr. Piu said the disease has already reached staggering proportions since first being identified in 1981. 58 million people worldwide have contracted the HIV

词根literate 意为“有文化修养的,通晓的”,前缀il表示否定,因此illiterate指 “一窍不通,不知道的”。

2. 根据后缀猜测词义
