It¡¯s always a proud feeling when you¡¯re growing taller than your classmates.

¡°Chinese boys from 7 to 17 are 2.54cm shorter than Korean boys of the same age range.¡± said Wu Zhengxian, a director at the Beijing Institute of Education. She raised this topic at a meeting of the National People¡¯s Congress on March 7.

¡°Height is just one of the measurements(ºâÁ¿±ê×¼) used to check our body condition. Chinese youth¡¯s overall condition has been dropping for 25 years.¡± said Wu.

In 2012, Beijing surveyed the overall condition of senior middle school students. It marked students on speed, explosive force(±¬·¢Á¦), strength and endurance(ÄÍÁ¦) with PE tests, such as running and jumping.

¡°Only 10 percent of students passed the tests.¡± said Wu. What is making China¡¯s unhealthy young people?

Experts think that physical education is taking a back seat to exam results.

The government is working to improve children¡¯s condition. For example, a 2007 rule asks schools to take one-hour group exercises every day.

¡°However, schools have their worries, too. For fear of accidents during sports, many schools do not carry out the rule well.¡± Wu said.

Without regular exercise, students are becoming weak. It¡¯s common to see them get hurt on the playground.

¡°Nowadays, there is no more long-distance running, no more tiring exercise for students.¡± Yao Ming, a former basketball player, said at a recent meeting in Beijing.

¡°The less you exercise, the worse your physical health will be.¡± he said.

THE Maze Runner(¡¶ÃÔ¹¬ÐÐÕß¡·), written by James Dashner, is a book that will always make you want to read what happens next. The story is about a teenage boy who is suddenly placed in a maze with other boys. All of their memories have been erased(Ïû³ý) and they can¡¯t remember anything. With teamwork, determination, and skills, they have to find out how to get out of the maze, which has monsters that attack at night.

Then a girl comes along and she helps them with her special powers.

The characters in this novel are very unusual and different in their own ways. There are many characters that are lovely and some that are not very nice. However, they all contribute to the book¡¯s plot(Çé½Ú). You get to watch them grow with each other as they learn more about life. The Maze Runner attracts me because I love a good book that¡¯s full of action, and this book has met that need. There was a movie that was made based on this book. The writing style of James Dashner has never made me bored. The way that he wrote it makes you feel as if you are the main character, trying to recall your memory and leave the maze.

Each part ends with a cliffhanger(ÐüÄî) and keeps you wanting to turn the page and see what happens next. Despite the suspenseful(ÐüÒɵÄ) scenes, the author manages to put a funny part after which will make you calm again and want to read more. That¡¯s one of the things that I enjoyed while reading this book.
