第一节 (Text 1)
W: Should I rent a car when I arrive in Cairo? I don’t want to ride a bike in the sun.
M: You should use the underground. It’s fast and convenient. W: Great. (Text 2)
W: John asked me to give you his telephone number.
M: I think I have his home number. Does 9731 4322 sound right?
W: Yeah, but he moved house last week. His new home number is 9452 3456. (Text 3)
M: The guide book says this is a very windy place, but there’s completely no wind now.
W: I hope it’ll be sunny.
M: There is too much cloud. The sun isn’t shining at all. (Text 4)
W: My parents live in Austin. It’s a very small city, but it’s very nice. M: Are they in good health?
W: Yes. They are still working. My mother is teaching at a university there, and my father is a doctor. (Text 5)
W: Can I help you?
M: Yes, I just came back from London on a long flight, and I’m having trouble sleeping.
W: We have several things for that, including sleeping pills. But try some of this tea. Drink some before you go to bed. 第二节 (Text 6)
W: Do you go to class 10C?
- 17 -
M: Yes, I do. You are new here, aren’t you? You look great.
W: Thanks a lot. But now go to your class and get your things ready. I’m your new physics teacher.
M: Aren’t you the new student?
W: I’m afraid not. My name is Jane Lovett. M: Oh, I’m very sorry, Ms. Lovett. W: OK. What’s your name? M: Barry Goodman.
W: OK. Barry, sit down and let me see if you remember last term’s lessons. (Text 7)
M: I’m looking for my copy of the Harris report. I thought I left it here on my desk last night. You haven’t seen it, have you, Anita?
W: Oh, I’m terribly sorry, Mr. Jensen. I completely forgot to tell you — Mr. Lee asked me if he could borrow it — he wants to include some of the figures in a sales presentation, so I lent it to him.
M: Well, I wish you’d told me earlier. I’ve been looking everywhere for it. Did
he say when he’d bring it back?
W: He said he needed it for a couple of hours and promised to bring it back after
lunch. (Text 8)
M: Here, take a look at this photo. W: Who’s that girl next to you?
M: That’s my sister, Phyllis. She’s married. That’s her husband, Ted, and the baby he’s holding is their daughter, Tanya.
W: Who are the man and woman over there standing under the tree?
M: That’s my dad’s brother and his wife. They’re my aunt Silvia and uncle Herman. The boy running after the cat is their son, Tom. W: Do you have any other brothers or sisters?
M: Yeah. I have a brother, Sam. He’s away in the army. There’s his wife, Mary, holding the bottle of iced tea. She’s going to have a baby in about two months.

I’ll have another niece or nephew soon. Do you have any brothers or sisters? W: No. I’m an only child. But I have lots of aunts and uncles and cousins. We’re like brothers and sisters. (Text 9)
W: Good morning, Travel Link. How can I help you?
M: Good morning. I live in Bayswater and I’d like to take a train to Harbor City
tomorrow before 11 a.m.
W: Well, if you catch a railway express, that’ll get you there in under an hour …
Let’s see — yes, if you catch the 9:30 a.m. railway express, you can get there in time.
M: Which station does that leave from?
W: Helendale is the nearest train station to you.
M: What’s the best way to get to the Helendale station then?
W: You can take the 706 bus from the Bayswater Shopping Center to North Street. When
you get there, you change to the 638 bus which will take you to the station. Or if you don’t mind walking a couple of kilometers, you can go directly to Central Park and get straight on the 792 bus going to the train station. M: I guess the walk will be good for me. (Text 10)
M: Good morning, everyone. Welcome to the Riding Center. May I have your attention, please? I’m your riding teacher, and my name’s Jack. In a minute, I’ll take you to your houses, but I need to tell you a few things first. First, what you need to wear. Everyone must wear a hat, and if you need to borrow one, we’ve got lots, of all sizes. I’m afraid we don’t have any sunglasses. We’re going to go for a ride along the river today because the beach is too busy at this time of year. Now, the horses love going in the water there, so please leave your camera here if you have one. But it might be a good idea to take a jacket! The price of the ride today is $27.50 for adults, and for young people under the age of 16 it’s $19.70. We ask our customers to pay before the ride, please. So before we go to the farm to get the horses, can you come to the office, please? It’s this way…
