Unit 3 Language in use

Step 1 Warming up

1.Read through the sentences in Language practice with the whole class. Check and make sure the students understand their meanings and uses.

2.Draw a table on the blackboard or show it by the PPT. Ask the students, “What lessons do you have today?” and fill in the table.

4.Tell the students to draw and fill in their own tables, then ask and answer each other questions about the table in pairs.

Step 2 Grammar

Step 3 Speaking

1.Ask the students what they do and don't do during the week with questions such as “Do you come to school in the morning/afternoon?”.

2.Write “DO/DON'T”on the blackboard. Elicit(引出) activities for each and write them in the appropriate column.

3.Ask the students on which day they have a lot of classes or do a lot of things. Encourage the students to say, “It's a busy day…” Then other students repeat the sentences.

4.Ask the students to work individually and make a list of what they do and don't do during the week.

5.Ask the students to work in pairs and ask each other about their weekly activities.

6.Let the students retell the weekly activities of their partner's. Step 4 Practice

Divide the whole class into four groups. Let each group finish activities 2-5 individually. After they finish, ask each group to report their answer.

Step 5 Around the world

1.Look at the picture and discuss it with the students. 2.Compare the school day in UK with that in China. Step 6 Module task

Make the students talk about their ideal school day and complete the table with the results they talk about.

Do more exercises in the PPT. Then the teacher checks the answers. Step 8 Sum up

Ask the students to talk about “What have you learned in this lesson?” Then,the teacher sums up the grammar of Module 5. Step 9 Homework

1.Review the grammar we have learned in this module. 2.Writing: Write a passage about your school day.

I go to school from Monday to Friday. We have five classes in the morning and two in the afternoon. And we have many subjects to learn: Chinese, math, English,

PE, science, bioiogy, music, history and so on. We also have many things to do after class. On monday and Wednesday afternoons we play sports after class. On Tuesday afternoon some of us have a drawing class, and on Thurday afternoons some have a dancing class. I like music, history and English. But my favourite subject is music.

On Saturdays and Sundays I don't go to school. Usually, I go to the park and have a good time with my parents there.
