动词有规则动词和不规则动词之分，规则动词以在其后加ed为主，不规则动词有它自身的构成方式。
注：1、虽说规则动词以在其后加后缀ed为主，但却有诸多不规则的构成方式，如：以辅音
字母+y的动词，要把“y”变成“i”再加“ed”等等。（参见16：36）
2、不规则动词虽然有着自己的构成方式，但也有规则可循。（参见17：59）
使用时态结构是严格的，不可以把：“他昨天去那儿了。”说成：“He
goes there yesterday.”而应该说成：“He went there yesterday.”，该使用过去式的必须使用过去式，不可以随意地拿过一种什么结构替换使用。
除此之外，顺便介绍一下状态句型的结构： 肯定句： 主语 + was（were）+ 表语 + 状语 He was a doctor before liberation. 否定句： 主语 + was（were）not + 表语 + 状语 She wasn’t in the office yesterday. 疑问句： Was（were）+ 主语 + 表语 + 状语？ Was my cell phone here last night?
特殊问句：特殊问词 + was（were）+ 主语 + 表语 + 状语？ Whom were you with at home yesterday?
有一个老生常谈的问题是：我们亦可以对过去时态肯定句中的任何一个成分进行提问,如：
He taught me English the day before yesterday.他前天教我英语了。 对主语提问： Who taught you English the day before yesterday? 前天谁教你英语了？
对状语提问： When did he teach you English?
他何时教你英语了？
对直接宾语提问:What did he teach you the day before yesterday? 他前天教你什么了？
对间接宾语提问:Whom did he teach English the day before yesterd 前天他教谁英语了？
对谓宾提问：What did he do the day before yesterday? 他前天干什么了？
注：如果谓语是及物动词不可只对谓语进行提问。
