On my recent trip to Sydney with my parents, we visited the Wildlife Park.

The Wildlife Park has lots of different animals. Some are native(当地的) to Australia and can only be found there. There are over 600 animals there, including kangaroos, koalas and crocodiles(鳄鱼). They are kept in their natural environment. I like the Wildlife Park better than a zoo where most of the animals are in cages.

We first spent some time with the kangaroos. We were allowed to touch and feed them. It wasvery exciting to be so close to them. There were koalas there too. They looked very cuddly(令人想拥抱的). Although we were not allowed to carry them, I got to take a photo with one. It is a wonderful souvenir of my holiday in Sydney.

The Wildlife Park has plenty of freshwater and saltwater crocodiles. Some of them are really big and scary with huge teeth! I did not want to get too close to them.

There was also a bird show. The keepers showed us different species they had. I saw an old parrot which could “talk”. It made a great impression on me.

I was traveling alone through the UK. To reach places that were off the public transportation map, I bought an old car, which cost most of my money. I couldn’t afford to stay in the hotel, so I had to camp in my car for the rest of the trip.

One morning I awoke in my old car on a country road in Ireland and saw a single house. The water in my thermos(保温瓶) had gone cold, so I knocked on the door of the house. A woman opened it. I asked her for some hot water. But she wouldn’t let me get away with just that! I was invited indoors. She asked me to sit at the table and have breakfast with her family. They filled my thermos before I left.

I was greatly moved. And I decided to pass the kindness on. The other day I met a young man who had been driving around to look for a parking lot. He looked increasingly upset(沮丧). I was glad that I was able to point one out to him. His thankful smile was the hugest reward(奖赏) for me. 6. The writer bought the car in order to ______. A. serve the public B. travel more easily C. take the trip alone D. save more money 7. Why did the writer camp in his car?

In different countries around the world, most children must start schooling at early ages. And they become “adults” at different ages. Being an adult means having the right to do certain things, such as getting a part-time job, voting (投票) , getting married, or getting a driving license. It also means accepting the responsibilities that go along with these rights.

In many countries, sixteen or eighteen is the age when a person becomes an adult. Young men and women at this age can get a part-time job, and begin to receive an income of their own. They no longer have to depend on their parents for money all the time. In Canada and America, sixteen is the age when one can get a driving license; in England, it is seventeen.

There are responsibilities that go along with both of these rights. Getting a part-time job means that you have to pay income tax. Driving a car demands that you follow certain rules like buying car insurance.

Voting is another right that young people enjoy when they become adults. In the United States, Canada and Britain, young people have the right to vote at the age of eighteen With this right also comes responsibility. For young people to use their right to vote wisely, they must have an understanding of the needs of society, and they must also learn how politics work.

11.The underlined word “right” in Paragraph One means “______” in Chinese. A. 正确 B. 右边 C权利 D. 左边

12.In America and Canada, young people who are ____ can get their driving licenses. A. at the age of 16 B. at the age of 15 C. at the age of 14 D. at the age of 13 13.If you drive a car, you have to ______.

A. get a part-time job B. follow certain rules C. understand society D. learn politics 14.Tom is a 17-year-old English boy and he has the rights to______.

A. drive and learn B. vote and marry C. drive and vote D. work and vote

15. From the passage, we can know that ______.

[A. sixteen-year olds have all kinds of rights B. responsibilities need to go along with rights C. the rules are the same in the UK and the USA D. children become “adults” at early ages
