In her French classes, Andrea Byrd teaches her students to use the language mainly through reading and storytelling. She creates materials for students to access online and watch or read before coming into class.
Andrea Byrd first used Shadow Puppet to create short videos based on interesting stories. After several weeks of creating these story videos herself, Andrea Byrd decided to use Shadow Puppet with her students. She is always looking for ways to get her students to practice speaking aloud – a constant challenge in foreign classes – and making videos with Shadow Puppet was a great way to get them excited about speaking in French.

They were all there and I fell in love with all those girls. I didn’t know what to do about it though. I think I was about nine or ten years old.

I would go around and check all the crossroads around the school to see the people working for me were doing their job. I must have been 10 years old. When school started, I would blow the whistle and they would all come in, which made me feel really important. The Mickey Mouse club in Hanford was pretty big. The theatre would be full on Saturdays and someway I got
