Parents and teachers often tell children not to play with fire because it’s dangerous. However, a boy named Ashton Dunford wasn’t punished after running into a sudden fire near his house. In fact, the 10-year-old boy has become “a little hero” because forty guests of a hotel escaped (逃离) the fire thanks to him.

Ashton lives in Rockbridge County in Virginia, USA. Near his house, there is a hotel named Good Place Farms Bed and Breakfast. When Ashton was staying at home one Saturday night, he suddenly saw flames ( 火 焰 ) coming out from the hotel where 40 guests were staying for a wedding ( 婚礼). The boy ran across the street and into the hotel at once. He shouted to wake people up. “Everybody out!” All the people downstairs (楼下) heard that and ran out of the hotel. However, there were still some people sleeping upstairs (楼上). At that moment, smoke spread quickly inside the hotel, but without much thought, Ashton ran upstairs to ask people to get out. It took firefighters about an hour to put out the big fire. Luckily, because of the brave boy, all the guests were able to escape the fire. The wedding went on as planned on Sunday afternoon. Ashton was invited to the wedding because of his life-saving act.

Fire official Foresman shared a post on the Internet, calling Ashton a “hero”. “He is truly amazing! Very few children would know what to do and his parents should be very proud of him!” he said.
