一、英语阅读理解专项练习试卷 1.阅读理解

Happiness is for everyone. You don't need to care about those people who have beautiful houses with large gardens and swimming pools or those who have nice cars and a lot of money and so on. Those who have big houses may often feel lonely and those who have cars may want to walk on the country roads at their free time.

In fact happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it. When you are in trouble at school, your friends will help you. When you study hard at your lessons, your parents are always taking good care of your life and your health. When you get success, your friends will say congratulations to you. When you do something wrong, people around you will help you to correct it. And when you do something good to others, you will feel happy too. All these are your happiness. If you notice them you can see that happiness is always around you.

Happiness is not the same as money. It is a feeling of your heart. When you are poor, you can also say you are very happy because you have something else that can't be bought with money. When you meet with difficulties, you can say loudly you are very happy because you have more chances to challenge yourselves. So you cannot always say you are poor and you have bad luck. If you take every chance you get, you will be a happy and lucky person. (1)Happiness is for .

(2)细节理解题,根据 When you do something wrong, people around you will help you

to correct it.

(4)标题判断题,从文章的第一句 Happiness is for everyone. 到文章的最后一句 you will be a happy and lucky person.

The boy had a big smile on his face as if he had just been set free from some sort of prison(监狱) . The boy would then fall to the grass, get up, without looking back at his mother, run as fast as he could, again, still with a smile on his face, as if nothing had happened.

At that moment, I thought to myself, \they fall down, make a big deal out of it and don't even make a second attempt. They would be so embarrassed that they would not try again if someone saw them fall. Or, because they fall, they would find a good excuse for themselves that they're not fit for it. They would end up being too afraid to attempt again for fear of failure(失败) .

However, with kids, when they fall down, they don't consider their falling down as a failure, instead, they treat it as a learning experience. They try again and again until they succeed. The answer must be that they have not connected \down\with the word \What's more, they probably think to themselves that it's quite okay to fall down and that it's not wrong to do so. One Saturday, we were preparing to go away for the weekend when my daughter heard cries for help. When I went out, I discovered our elderly neighbor had fallen on her front steps. She was clearly in pain, so I helped her inside her house and settled here on the bed.

I noticed her room was very narrow and dark. It was obvious she hadn't cleaned it for a long time. She insisted she didn't need an ambulance(救护车)and that someone would be around soon, so I left her with a bottle of water at her side.

As I left I felt sad when I realized that we hadn't communicated with her, except a few smiles, for the past 18 months. She didn't know my name and I didn't know hers, and I hadn't even noticed that she hadn't been outside for weeks because of bad pain in her back.

That weekend I visited my grandmother for her 80th birthday and noticed how clean and spacious her flat seemed in comparison to my neighbour's. My neighbour, as far as I knew, had no family regularly dropping by.

When I returned home I went to visit her. Very grateful to see me, she explained she was okay. Yet, unable to bend down due to her back, her kitchen was filling with garbage that she was unable to take out by herself.

We've become good friends and chat every second day. She keeps thanking me for my kindness, but I enjoy helping her. Now, every time I return from putting out her garbage, collecting her mail or just chatting, I feel a deep sense of satisfaction and peace. (1)What happened when they were preparing to go away? A. The daughter was crying for help. B. The daughter was still sleeping in bed. C. Nobody came to look after the old woman. D. Their elderly neighbor fell down.

(3)What does the underlined word in the fourth paragraph probably mean? A. Tidy B. Small C. Large D. Narrow (4)What can we learn about the old woman?

A. She had been ill for many years. B. She always helped others when she was young. C. She had no daughters and sons. D. She was grateful for the author's kindness. (5)The author got a deep sense of satisfaction and peace from ___________. A. attending her grandmother's birthday party B. helping her neighbor

I met him later by chance. “Who says life is fair?” I asked him with a smile, and I asked him to walk with me to my car. “Have you seen the numbers they show when a new car is being introduced into the market, saying how economic (经济的) it is?” “Yes,” he nodded “But they put a line after all these numbers. They say all the numbers are in ideal (理想的) road conditions!”

“Yes,” he said again. “Can you show me some ideal road conditions?” I asked him,and he smiled. “The car that sells well is the one that will provide power and speed on the worst roads. That car is the winner!”
