The main reason I was a little nervous to go to Inner Mongolia was that I didn¡¯t really know what to expect. However, I was interested in the horse riding, archery and delicious food that I had heard about.
Also, my friend and I would be travelling there and sleeping in a traditional Mongolian yurt with complete strangers. I was worried about this new and difficult experience.
As soon as we got to the grasslands after our long five-hour journey by car, we were greeted with steaming bowls of hearty Mongolian noodles¡ªjust what we needed to get us in the mood to explore. We took a walk around the grasslands and were surprised¡ªnot only by their beauty, but also by the strong winds that blew dirt into our hair and nearly knocked us off our feet.
Before long, it was time to go horse riding. I was worried because it was the first time I had ever ridden a horse. I didn¡¯t need to worry, though¡ªwe were all beginners but the horses made it very easy for us. However, they did have a habit of turning around and going the other way for no reason!
In the evening, we ate another simple, delicious meal of roast lamb. Afterwards, we had a strange task¡ªto collect dung(·à±ã) to make a fire. In the end, we had a great time around the campfire that evening, listening to music and sharing stories of our day with strangers. That was the most exciting part of our trip.
Then we went to sleep in our yurt. Because we were in the grasslands, the temperature dropped sharply at night to around zero, so we felt cold throughout the night even though six other people were sleeping with us.21cnjy
The next day we woke up, still feeling tired, and headed back to Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region. We really loved the nice hotel room we slept in that night and the shower that washed the dirt out of my hair. However, we didn¡¯t regret having the adventure in the Inner Mongolian grasslands.
