passage.

2. My parents were completely shocked! completely adv.

e.g. I understand completely. shocked adj.

e.g. She was so shocked that she could hardly say a word.

3. My parents did not talk after that, and we finished the rest of our dinner in silence.

A hundred and fifty reporters sat in silence. 4. I didn’t believe him at first.

e.g. At first we used hand tools.

At first I didn’t want to go, but soon I changed my mind.

拓展:try搭配的词组:try to do sth设法做某事;try on试穿;try out尝试,实验;try one’s best尽全力;have a try试一下。

3. In 1972, it was discovered that they are endangered. 1972

Coal was first discovered and used in China.

Columbus discovered America on the 12th of October, 1492. 1492

Edison invented the electric lamp.

Radio had just been invented then.

Today, corn is found all over the world. She found him a very good pupil.

His notebook was found/discovered in the desk. 4.Some of the swamps have become polluted.
